Sparwood Minor Ball – Manager & Coach Information Sheet
Manager Responsibilities (All Divisions)
Enter all practice and game schedules into TeamLinkt as provided by Sparwood Minor Ball Association.
Schedule Changes:
Report all cancellations, rescheduling, or added games to the Scheduling Coordinator (scheduling@sparmnb.com) and Umpire Coordinator (coach@sparmb.com).
Notify the Scheduling Coordinator of cancelled practices. Make-up practices require approval from Scheduling Coordinator.
Team jerseys will be provided. Ensure all jerseys are cleaned and returned at the end of the season.
T-Ball & Coach Pitch Divisions
Managers are responsible for:
Communicating all information from Sparwood Minor Ball Association to families.
Organizing team apparel pick-up and distribution.
Assisting during team photo day and distributing photo packages.
Organizing with corosponding associations a maxiumum of two games for the season, additional games will need board approval, unless this is in your designated practice slot (Please ensure games do not run over into another teams alloted time).
Minors, Majors & Teens Divisions
Managers are responsible for:
All communication regarding schedule changes between the association and opposing teams.
Sharing all association updates with team families.
Coordinating apparel distribution.
Assisting at photo day and distributing photo packages.
Season-End Tournaments:
Tournament details (location) will be communicated to each division once finalized by Chinook West Baseball League
Majors/Minors tournament takes place the second weekend in June.
Teens tournament takes place the third weekend in June.
Team managers must provide the Board with a confirmed player availability list no later than three (3) weeks prior to the tournament date. This information will be used for tournament registration, scheduling, roster verification, and tournament planning purposes. You must have a minimum of 10 players confirmed.
If teams are significantly short on players, Sparwood Minor Ball Association will determine if teams will be combined for year-end play.
Game & Team Requirements:
Teams will have weekday games and weekend doubleheaders.
A minimum of 9 players is required for all games- Games are a forfiet if teams cannot feild the minium requirment- Final tournmanent requirments are subject to board approval.
Umpires:
Umpires are assigned by the association.
For any issues, contact the Umpire Coordinator.
The association handles all umpire payments.
Game Administration:
Score sheets and pitch count logs are provided.
Assign parent volunteers for scorekeeping and pitch tracking at all games (home and away).
Follow Little League rules for pitch counts and division-specific gameplay.
No submission of game sheets is required.
Equipment & Safety:
Proper equipment must be worn at all practices and games.
Coaches will receive catcher’s gear, practice balls, and bats.
Game balls are provided to umpires—do not use practice balls for games.
Return all equipment to storage after use and keep areas organized- Players and parents are not aloud in the shed without permission from volunteer staff.
Please also ensure that when players are using the batting cage, they are ALL wearing the proper protective gear.
Coaches must ensure players are not entering the fields on another teams practice slot during their designated time, unless ok'd by the practicing teams coaches, this is a safety aspect and respect to practicing teams desidgnated time slots.
Game Balls:
Minors 45 CC
Majors/Teens 65 CC
Bat REGULATIONS: Bats must be USA certified, any bat not displaying a USA is an illegal bat and cannot be used, this is little league standards.
USA bat must be used for Minors and Majors divisions- No exceptions. Please refer to Little League App for clarification on barrel size and weight requirements.
USA/BBCORE/WOOD bats may be used at the Teens divison-Please refer to Little League App for clarification on barrel size and weight requirements.
Conduct & Rules:
Review division rules and encourage parents to do the same.
Umpire decisions are final.
Zero tolerance for abuse toward umpires or opposing teams.
Weather Policy (30/30 Rule):
Activities run rain or shine unless there is thunder or lightning.
Suspend play immediately if thunder is heard or lightning is seen, or if the time between lightning and thunder is 30 seconds or less.
Wait at least 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning before resuming play.
Restart the 30-minute timer if another strike occurs.
Coach Responsibilities (All Divisions)
Plan and run all practices and games.
Ensure all equipment is returned to storage and kept organized.
Track and maintain all equipment provided by the association.
Portable Mound Responsibilities
A rotating schedule is in place for mound setup and takedown:
Monday:
Minors: Optional use of 6” mound for practice.
Teens: Responsible for 8” mound setup and takedown for games.
Tuesday:
Minors 2: Set up 6” mound (Diamond 4 – small).
Minors 1: Set up 8” mound (Diamond 5 – big).
Majors & Teens: Responsible for takedown.
Wednesday:
Minors: Set up and takedown of 6” mound for games.
Majors: Set up 8” mound for practice.
Teens: Responsible for takedown.
Thursday:
Majors: Setup and takedown of 6” mound for games.
Minors 2: Optional 8” mound for practice; responsible for takedown if used.
Additional Notes:
Refer to Little League rules for correct mound distances by division.
A measuring tape is provided in the shed—return it after use.
Coaches and Managers are responsible for prepping the infield before game play or assigning through out the season to parents.
All bench staff are required to have a criminal record check done and respect in sport course completed, Sparwood Minor ball will rembruise your respect in sport- Please send RIS/CRC/Receipt to coach coordinator, upon reviewing completion, the treasuer will rembruise you.
